Welcome!!
Hello Oakridge Aeros parents,

I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful summer. I thought I would post a quick message to introduce myself and to provide some details about my coaching philosophy, the team’s objectives for the season, the additional cost to support the competitive season, and the tournaments we will be attending.

My name is Greg French and I will be coaching the MD Minor Atom team this season. I had the pleasure of helping out with the MD2 major novice team last year and I look forward to taking over as head coach. My philosophy is simple, develop each player to be the best player, teammate, and best little person they can. I also believe that hockey is a game and we need to remember that having fun should always a priority. Some of our other objectives for the season will be to develop a family/team atmosphere, teach each player what it is to train, prepare, and play like an athlete, and finally, the ultimate goal will be to make it to the Alliance championships in St Catharine's.

With MD competitive there will be additional costs on top of the usual registration fees. The additional money will be used to pay for additional ice time, TAG development sessions, Goalie training sessions, tournament registration costs, and other additional items used to run the team. This year’s fee will be $820.00. We will also participate in team building fund raising events, and attempt to gain sponsorships from local companies to help reduce the overall fee.

Below is the list of tournaments we will be attending this season.

·      St Catharine’s

·      Owen Sound Silver Stick

·      Wayne Gretzky International (Brantford)

·      Dan Pulham Bandits Tournament (London)

·      Preston International (Cambridge)

In closing, I am very excited about getting the season started and I look forward to meeting many of you during the tryout process. Enjoy the rest of your summer and I will see everyone in early September.
