We hit the road to begin the 2019-20 season with games in Sarnia & Waterloo.
Sarnia is never an easy barn to play in but the Aeros were not going to be denied in their 1st game of the year on Saturday. We jumped out to a 1-0 lead but Sarnia was able to tie the game up 1-1 with a lucky bounce (according to our goalie lol). A couple of 3rd period goals & solid goaltending were enough to secure a 3-1 win for the Aeros.
Sunday's match-up brought the Aeros to the Waterloo Rec Complex. After watching some entertaining Jr. B action the Aeros displayed some high end skill of their own. The story was similar to Saturday as we again had a 1-0 lead after a beautiful pass only to see Waterloo tie it up 1-1 (another lucky goal). We went ahead again 2-1 in the 3rd period on a highlight reel passing play. The Aeros were relentless on the backcheck & with a few huge saves late in the game came away with another big road win.
If the 1st 2 games are any indication we are definitely going to be a 3rd period team. We'll need a big effort in all 3 periods this Friday as we continue our road trip to face a 3-0 Kitchener Rangers (Blue) squad.
2-0 is a fantastic start. Really enjoying this group of talented players & looking forward to spending next weekend together in Niagara Falls/St. Catharines @ the JMT tournament.
