Team Updates 22-Sept
Hi Parents, The regular season starts this weekend and I thought I would take the opportunity to update you all on a couple of things regarding the team. Unfortunately, our parent meeting last week got cut a little short and we were not able to go over everything we may have wanted to cover.

Team Sponsors – Some parents have indicated that they may be able to get sponsors for the team, which would be great. I am attaching a form that any potential sponsor will have to fill out and return along with their cheque. It outlines what they will receive for their sponsorship money and who to make the cheque out to. The coaching staff has discussed this issue, and agreed that any sponsorship money received will be deposited into the team fund and used for team expenses. If we are successful with our fundraising and sponsorship endeavours this season (and I have no reason to believe we won’t be), it would be my hope that every family might get a little back from their initial $600 at the end of the season. Periodically throughout the season, Manager Jim will be sending out updates to everyone as to where the team stands financially. The pizza fundraiser starts next week!

Dress Shirts and Ties – Last season for tournaments I asked that the kids come to the games in their hockey track suits with a dress shirt and tie. They could also wear black dress pants if you/they prefer. I thought this was a good look, good for team building and a good way for the team to present themselves on the road. Since we will be travelling to other cities quite a bit this year I thought I would extend this policy to road games as well. I realize that some of the kids may have outgrown their suits from last season. If this is the case please let me know.

Practice Jerseys – Colour coded practice jerseys is a great idea and also very helpful to the coaches during practice. I’m sure with all of the extra spring hockey and hockey schools etc. that the kids do we must have a pile of extra jerseys laying around. I know Max does. I would suggest that maybe at next Monday’s practice we bring all of our extra ones to the rink and we can sort through them to come up with matching colours for each line and the defence. If this works this would save us around $300 from the team budget.

Please be at Saturday’s game 40 minutes prior to puck drop. We plan on having the boys go out for a bit of a dryland warm-up prior to the game.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to speak to me

Thanks,
