2025 West London U18 Tourney Champs
The Aeros U18 BB squad competed in the West London (Doug Jarrett) tournament last weekend.
For many of the players & coaches this was the last registered tournament (not including the Alliance Championship weekend) of their competitive minor hockey careers.
We went 2-1-1 in the round-robin vs King Rebellion (3-1), North London (4-2), Caledon (3-3) & West London Black (2-3). It wasn't our best hockey but apparently we were saving that for Sunday.
The semi-final was a match-up vs West London Gold who we hadn't managed to beat yet this season. The boys brought what we had been waiting for all weekend (as well as our previous games vs Gold) winning a hard fought & intense game 3-1. West Black took out Sarnia in the other semi setting up another West-Oakridge showdown in the final.
West Black is a team full of '08s who are very skilled, fast & competitive. They're a handful now beating us in the round-robin & certainly will be again next year. We were down 1-0 until tying the game up in the 3rd taking us to an exciting 3 on 3 OT which the Aeros came away winning early on the PP.
Watching the bench clear & sticks/gloves flying in the air never gets old. This was our 2nd tournament championship this year (we also won the Peter Mancuso in Niagara Falls). Hopefully Oaktown have one more left in the tank at the upcoming Alliance Championships in a few weeks. I wouldn't bet against us.
Go Aeros!
