John MacDonald Memorial U16 Champs
What a weekend in Niagara for the U16 Aeros!
We started the tourney off with a tough 2-1 loss to Sarnia early Friday afternoon in St. Catharines. We were missing players but to give Sarnia credit they were flying & played us hard. That was our only game on Friday so we had the rest of the day & evening to enjoy the beautiful weather in the Falls. Passes to the Clifton Hill attractions for the boys (thanks to our team manager Brian) & patios near the hotel for the parents.
We were back to full strength on Saturday winning games vs North 3-0 & Kitchener Blue 4-2 sending us to the semi-finals on Sunday. The weather was still amazing so it was back to Clifton Hill & the patios.
While we won 2 games on Saturday we still weren't firing on all cylinders yet but that all changed on Sunday. We took out a strong Milton team 3-0 in the semi-final & blew out Burlington White 7-1 in the final. I don't care who we were playing the boys were not going to lose that game & that is something we can build on the rest of the season.
Congrats on your well earned championship boys. Hope you & your families made some awesome memories. Congrats also to Coach Dan & the U18 Aeros on winning the U18 division. Great weekend for Oaktown hockey.
Go Aeros!
