I'm very excited to be named head coach of this team & encourage all 2004/2005 players to attend tryouts. We have a lot of time & FUN to make up for as we plan for a return to "normal" hockey again.
2021-22 Season Outlook
Practices: We will continue to run one 1.5 hour practice weekly in order to give our players extra time for other sports & activities. Practices will be fun & competitive including a mix of skill development, small area games, systems & of course scrimmages. At this age hockey competes with many different things including high school sports, increased homework, part-time jobs, etc. We fully understand this & will be flexible in order to allow them to participate in as much as possible including our great sport of hockey!!!
Games: We don't know what the U18 MD loop will look like as of yet. Our opponents will be determined on registration numbers across the Alliance.
Tournaments: TBD
Tryouts: We encourage all 2004 & 2005 players to register. MD tryouts are scheduled to begin the 1st week of October. Selections will be made with the assistance of an independent panel of experienced coaches.
Get to know Coach Rich: I'm a 3rd generation Oakridge Hockey coach with 20+ years experience from the U18 (formerly Midget) to IP (formerly Tyke) age groups with Oakridge & London Junior Knights. This may be hard to believe as I like to think I still look 20 & definitely act like it most of the time. My coaching "career" actually started with the Oakridge Midget competitive team (the old Forest City Hockey League) as a non-parent prior to having a family of my own. This coaching journey has really come full circle for me now which is crazy. I still play hockey with my buds & hope that each one of our players will continue to do so long after their minor hockey days are over too. Unfortunately those days are now numbered so we'll do our very best to create an enjoyable & memorable hockey experience this season.
Look forward to seeing everyone in October. Any questions please reach out to [email protected]
Go Aeros!
