2018 - 2019 Oakridge Aeros MD - Novice 1
Hello and welcome to the Oakridge Aeros MD - Novice 1 home page!
For those of you who don't know me, My name is Scott Wain. I'll be the coach for this years team. I'm very much looking forward to another great season.
I've been coaching minor hockey for 10+ years in London with the old SSE Wild, London Jr. Knights as well as the Oakridge Aeros.
By providing an encouraging and fun environment with a major focus on development, the players who want it, will have the tools to make the jump to Jr. Knights or Jr. Mustangs in 2019.
MD1 is the highest level of competitive hockey for our players at this age group in the Alliance. With this comes a tremendous level of commitment for both the players and the parents. This commitment will begin at tryouts. Although talent and skill are key components of evaluations, they are not the only components. Coach-ability, work ethic and a positive attitude can often be even more important than talent or skill alone. We will be looking for players who want to come to the rink with focus and are prepared to put in the work to develop their game each and every day.
The tryout schedule will be up very soon. You can expect tryouts to begin the very first week of school. It could be as early as September 4th. Please keep an eye on the team calendar. Once the ice has been organized, the schedule will be posted.
All players will have the opportunity to participate in at least 2 tryouts (2 hours of ice). After the 2nd skate (2nd hour), the remaining players will be posted on this site. Players who do not see their name are asked to report to the MD 2 tryouts that will follow immediately after the MD1 team has been selected.
I wish all players and families the best of luck. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
Coach Scott
