Oakridge 21, 2013-2014, U8-U9 Teams (Oakridge Aeros Minor Hockey)

The Red Aeros 21 played their best all-around game of the season on Saturday morning and were rewarded for their efforts with a convincing 4-0 victory over South London. The win was also the first on the road this season for the team and earned them a valuable two points in the standings.

The Oakridge Red Aeros 21 started the New Year off with a bang on Saturday morning with a solid 7-4 win over the West London Hawks 11. The boys started out strong netting a couple of goals on the first shift of the game and then took some time to shake off a bit of post-holiday rust. By the end of the game, however they were clicking on all cylinders and cruised to a decisive victory.

The Oakridge Red Aeros 21 dropped a close one to the North London Nationals on Saturday morning and head into the Christmas break with a solid 5-5 record. The kids got off to a great start in Saturday's game and jumped out to an early 3-1 lead but the Nationals, who have yet to lose a game this season, chipped away at the lead and despite some heroic goaltending efforts by the "Brick Wall" Grant Bishop, the Nationals scored 4 unanswered to squeak out a win.

The Red Aeros broke out of their mini losing streak in a big way on Saturday morning by hanging a 9-2 shellaking on the West London Hawks. The Aeros scored early and they scored often and were led by Nik "Boom Boom" Vandeloo, who recorded his first multi-goal game of the season. Nik got the go ahead from the coaching staff prior to the game to unleash his big slap shot which he did on a regular basis throughout the game launching several howitzers.

One thing is for sure. The Oakridge Red Aeros are a gritty bunch who never say die and never quit. For the third time this season the boys fought back from a 2-0 deficit as they tied their game against the West London Hawks up late in the third period. The Hawks however scored with a mere 10 seconds left in the game to take the win.
