Submitted By MD Director on Sunday, October 4, 2020
In preparing for the Aeros to hit the ice, please review these documents found here:

Important Participation and Arena Protocols (UPDATED October 28, 2020):

Please review and be familiar with the following:

  1. The GLHA Current Return to Play (RTP) V.6.1 -updated 10/26/2020
There are some changes/clarification to the existing RTP document.   The GLHA will do their best to update and distribute, but it is very difficult as thing can change day by day.  Effective immediately:

    A.      The GLHA will now be following the same screening criteria as our local school boards (which changed early October) for players that are feeling ill. The original GLHA return timeline was that a player with symptoms could only return after showing a negative Covid test as that what the school boards originally mandated.
    B.      The players are allowed to walk from dressing room to the ice without masks, assuming helmets are on.
    C.      The benches have been set up to indicate where players can sit, allowing for social distancing.  You cannot have more kids on the bench than there are indicated spots to sit.  This allows players to be on the bench without the need for a mask.
  2. The foot traffic flow by arena. This illustrates where the participants will enter and exit as well as their path of travel when in the arena. The City has designated specific gates for entry onto the ice surface and off of the ice surface as well.
  3. One page summary of the rules in place for all City of London arenas to review.
  4. The City of London Covid Assessment Form (for parents to print and complete prior to every icetime)
  5. The GLHA Players and Coaches Paper Health screening Questionnaire (alternative to using Javelin App)

City of London Arena Covid Protocols:

  1. Players and Coaches MUST complete the health survey, within the Javelin app, (or GLHA paper questionnaire) prior to arriving at the arena, or bring in a waiver for every icetime.(further info will come from your child's coach) The "Javelin" App will handle health screening and contact tracing. To get started, download the app for free on your Android or iOS device. Alternatively, you can find it on the app store or play store listed under "Javelin".

Please watch this 2 minute demo on how to fill in the pre-game wellness check:
    https://youtu.be/C-I_OG4stf8

  2. Before every ice time teams are to gather at arena entrance 20 minute prior, with masks & distancing.
  3. Check in with your team's Covid Manager to ensure every player and coach has completed and passed health screening.
  4. City of London Health assessments are required for all parents/guardians that enter our arenas. The Javelin app DOES NOT apply to parents/guardians so we therefore require the form to be filled out and brought each time you visit an arena. Please have the completed form ready in order to speed up the process and reduce congestion at the arena entrance. Hand sanitizing is required at entry, and is provided in the front entrance by the screener. If you choose to use your own sanitizer please use this in the presence of the screener so they don’t again ask you to comply. Parents dropping off and picking up their children who don't enter the arena do not require an assessment, but are encouraged to practice distancing and respect R-Zone rules while waiting outside.
  5. The City of London will have a greeter/screener at the entrance to the arena.
  6. Teams are to enter the arena together as a team, only 15 mins prior to the ice time, so please come dressed. Bags are allowed. Note: If a player is not with the team upon entrance, the arena staff may not allow the player to enter.
  7. There are no in and out privileges. If you are dropping off someone and somebody else is coming to pick them up please let our screener know at the front entrance so that we can allow that person to enter. We are tracking people in the building as we have strict capacity limits and once we reach those numbers nobody else will be permitted to enter for that particular ice time.
  8. There is a limit of up to 10 players per dressing room and players are to maintain distancing in the room. Chairs are also provided to accommodate distancing for all.
  9. When in the arena , is it important that all adhere to the Middlesex London Health Unit requirements of wearing a mask and keeping a 2 meter distance from everyone around you.
  10. Dressing rooms will be sanitized in between use.
  11. We have only 15 minutes after our ice time to depart the arena, no lingering.
  12. Viewing needs to occur in the designated viewing areas only.  This has been designed to ensure that we avoid congestion in the lobby and surrounding areas, as well will assist in the management of the cleaning and disinfecting efforts.
  13. Players are to bring their own water bottle and jersey. NO outside food or drink allowed. Concession stands are closed.
  14. Masks are mandatory and must be worn inside the arena at all times unless you are a player with a helmet on. Traffic flow maps for the arenas that Oakridge will use are located within the Team Documents section mentioned at the start of this post.
  15. City staff will wear masks inside the arena, with the exception of when they are driving the Zamboni and while they are in the office.
  16. We encourage parents to be respectful and reasonable to City staff as we work through these new processes.

The City would like to thank everyone for your compliance to the above rules. Those found not complying with above rules will be given one warning, subsequently will be asked to leave the arena if refusing to comply.  We all need to work together to ensure that we provide a safe environment.

Please be advised that at any point in time, our return to play program may be augmented, paused or halted by our local health unit and/or provincial government as we navigate through this pandemic. The City may modify facility procedures and processes.
As we receive further direction to our return to play program, we will do our best to communicate this to our families at our earliest convenience.

Stay healthy and safe.
