COVID-19 Immunization Required by Alliance/ GLHA for the 2021/22 Season for all eligible Participants
Attention Oakridge Families:
The Greater London Hockey Association (GLHA) recognizes the significant impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on sports and recreation.
We have heard how important hockey is to our families, coaches, and participants and are committed to doing what is necessary to keep our rinks as safe as possible for the coming season. In keeping with the Middlesex-London Health Unit’s most recent recommendations for amateur sports leagues (MLHU Amateur_Sports_Letter_-_August_27_2021.pdf), the GLHA will now require proof of COVID-19 immunization for all coaches, volunteers, bench staff, and participants who are eligible for vaccination (including those born in or before 2009), unless exempted.
Eligible participants will require proof of having received their first dose before their first skate and be fully vaccinated by October 31, 2021
As our community begins to see the effects of Wave 4 of this pandemic and as the frequency of COVID-19 cases in amateur group sports continues to increase, the GLHA believes mandatory vaccination is an important step to support our community’s efforts to prevent the spread of this virus.
Ensuring that all eligible individuals are vaccinated will provide us with the best opportunity to keep our participants on the ice and will support larger cohorts and regular team play.
(NOTE: The MLHU Amatueur Sports letter linked above states : 'If all participants on a team or in a league are fully vaccinated, it is reasonable for cohorts to be larger and for inter-team play to continue. However, if any member of the group is unvaccinated, cohorting (in groups as small as possible, with a maximum of 12-15 participants) is essential.')
Further details regarding the implementation of this policy and how to upload proof of vaccinations will follow in the coming weeks.
If you have any questions or concerns please visit the GLHA Hockey Question Form.
We look forward to seeing you all back at the arenas soon!
At the Alliance Hockey Executive Meeting on September 2nd a decision was made to require proof of COVID-19 immunization for all vaccine eligible participants (12 years of age and above and unless exempted) including players, coaches, officials, staff and volunteers in order to participate in ALLIANCE Hockey sanctioned programming.
Eligible participants will require proof of having received their first dose by September 17, 2021 and be fully vaccinated by October 31, 2021 .
Further details regarding implementation of this Policy, exemption qualifications, providing poof of vaccination, etc. will be available in the near future.
