IMPORTANT UPDATE: MLHU Red Status puts Oakridge Hockey on Hold
Submitted By MD Director on Saturday, December 12, 2020
The provincial government announced Friday that they are moving the London Middlesex Health Unit to level RED of the Province's Covid-19 response framework as of Monday December 14. 2020.

Red is a serious and restrictive status and has extensive additional protocols which vastly change how we are permitted to deliver hockey programming as there are significant impacts to arena operations, while maintaining the safety of our players, coaches & parents.

Effective Monday, December 14, 2020 the following additional protocols will be required and will remain in place for at least 28 days per the Red level:

  • Maximum of 10 participants and 2 Coaches/Instructors (1 has to be a Certified Trainer) on an ice pad.
  • 30 minutes of extra 'empty'/buffer icetime for additional cleaning and distancing would be required between every hour of booked icetime.
  • Arena dressing rooms are now closed
  • While on the ice and in the arena the participants must maintain a physical distance of 2 meters from each other at all times.
  • No Games or scrimmages are permitted – practice/instruction only (with 2m buffer – only uncontested, 'closed' drills allowed which is extremely limiting)
  • Megaphones/microphones must be used for instruction – no shouting
  • All other existing protocols such as health assessments remain in place.

We received this information on Friday afternoon and had multiple urgent meetings to look at our options. As of Monday, we have 7 days of programming remaining in Phase 1.

This resulted in coming to the difficult decision to pause all programming until Phase 2. At a minimal all ice time's from December 14th - January 10th will be shifted to the start date of Phase 2.  All dates are subject to change.

The cancelled icetimes from next week will be reallocated to their respective teams in Phase 2. MD Team 'paid/' extra ice will be cancelled and refunded to the respective teams.

As the Red status remains in place for 28 days from Monday, we aim to start our Phase 2 program after the Red level is removed and will provide updates once the situation clarifies and/or until we receive a further updates from the Provincial government.

We will continue to accept registration for phase 2 and have extended the deadline to January 1 at 12:01am for existing players.  Any new players, please email [email protected] to be added to wait list.

We appreciate the effort and cooperation of all of all of volunteers - Conveners, Coaches, Board members as well as players & parents during these challenging times.

We hope that you and your families all stay healthy and safe and enjoy your holiday season.
