Oakridge A8 - Oakridge House League Classic Finalists!
Super proud!! of the players on  and congratulate them with their effort this weekend during the Oakridge House League Classic (Feb 9-11).

Game 1 opened the tournament vs. Oakville Winterhawks.  Oakridge A8 was short a few players but kept the team close and got through the game with a hard fought 1-0 win. Game 2 was Friday night and closed out the night at Stronach arena vs. a team from Barrie. Barrie teams always provide a great challenge, but this night was all Oakridge A8 and resulted in a one sided 6-1 win.

The Bantam division had an odd number of teams registered, thus game 3 had us immediately in the knock out phase, regardless of out 2-0 record. Oakridge A8 knew they needed to come out with purpose in game 3 if they wanted to move on. In Game 3, Oakridge A8 came out with all kinds of pressure early and after 1 period were in front 3-0 and cruised to a tidy 4-0 shutout vs. Oakville Predators.

Saturday night brought the semi finals (Game 4) vs. Oakville Whalers and what can be described as the game of the tournament.  It had multiple twists and turns, Oakridge A8 battled back and forth against a lot of stick work and missed calls by the stripes.  After 3 periods the game was tied at 2-2, the two teams battle consistently during the overtime and almost a bit chippy when out of no-where with <40 seconds remaining Oakridge A8 would put away the winner with one of the craziest goals the coaches have seen.  Way to go Oakridge A8 and team...off to the finals!

The finals and Game 5 for this Oakridge A8 team was the second last on the schedule for the tournament and vs. a very tough North London C8 team.  The game between these two teams as of late has been of high quality, quick and played with maximum effort from both sides.  North London C8 continued to push the pace the entire game and Oakridge A8 pushed back throughout.  North London C8 secured the lead on a power play in the third period and resulted in a 3-2 win to take home the big trophy.

Congrats to the Oakridge A8 on their weekend!  4 wins in 5, not too shabby!!
