Welcome to the Minor Development 2 (MD2) main page. For those of you who don't know me my name is Matt Meyer and I'll be the head coach for the 2018/19 season.
I've been playing hockey my whole life and was fortunate to have the opportunity to play 4 years of Junior 'B' hockey with the London Nationals and one year of Senior 'A' with the Tillsonburg Vipers. As a player I was involved in youth skill development programs nearly every year. I've now been coaching hockey for 5 years including 3 years with the Oakridge Aeros program.
I love the game of hockey and firmly believe in a fun-first approach to coaching. At this age, our kids are ready to accelerate their skill development and to learn the value of hard work. I will aim to achieve this through fun, game-based drills and activities. I will also stress hard work and respect. If at the end of the season our kids have improved as players, developed as people, and still want to come to the rink I will count it as a success.
The MD2 team is the second of 2 competitive teams for Oakridge kids born in 2010. Our kids will begin their tryout journey with the MD1 team on September 4th. For more information on those tryouts you can visit the MD1 team page. Kids not selected for the MD1 team will continue on to tryout for the MD2 team starting September 16th. I will be looking for kids who are talented, hard working, and demonstrate a positive attitude. I look forward to seeing you at tryouts.
